MVLP Legal Clinics

The MVLP hosts several different clinics, which are seminars aimed at helping the public with their various legal needs. Information about upcoming clinics will be posted online.

Homeless Legal Clinic
The Homeless Legal clinic operates every Tuesday afternoon at Stewpot Community Services. Those in need of legal advice attend the Clinic which is staffed for a month at a time by attorneys from Jackson-area law firms.

Pro Se Divorce Clinic
One of the options given to clients in need of no-fault divorces is attending a Pro Se Divorce Clinic. One attorney guides those clients through their paperwork and any legalese they may encounter in filling out their divorce papers.

Wills & Estates Clinic
In an effort to address the needs of the elderly, this clinic provides an attorney to clients for the preparation of Wills and Advanced Healthcare Directives (formerly Living Wills).

Guardianship Clinic
The Guardianship Clinic takes place annually to help families get past any custody-related roadblocks that may interfere with enrolling children in school.

Access & Visitation Clinic
A significant portion of the cases handled by the MVLP, in some way, have to do with child custody. The purpose of the clinic is to inform parents of their rights to their children once a child custody has been put in place, and to introduce them to the legal system as a means to uphold those rights.

See upcoming events and seminars listed under the Upcoming CLEs and Events page.
